JoyStick Review:

Where do I start, oh yes. The price.. Really $1,000. I can pay for a small, but nice vacation for that price. I understand the rarity of this game within Arizona (or through out the country), but I didn't get into this hobby to spend that much on 15yr old arcade regardless of it collectability. (if you want to play this game on the cheap? then set it up on mame then get a cardboard box and put it over the monitor and put your head in it).

Now that I'm off of my soap box , let's get to the game. Race Drivin' is the successor to "Hard Drivin'", which supposedly gives the player a real life experience of driving a vehicle. I personally don't ever recall playing "Race Drivin'" in the arcade so I have no personal attachment to it, but I did play "Hard Drivin'" . At that time I was getting my drivers permit so I thought to myself I should be able to master this game (no big deal). Well I was totally wrong, the physics in this game are incredible at that time, but extremely difficult to master. I actually got scared after playing "Hard Drivin'" thinking that driving a car would pose the same difficulty. LOL

I'm sure this version of the series will also take considerable time to master, but with it's immersive cabinet style it would be hard not to want to.

Game works great, monitor is bright, crisp and clear.

asking $3,000 or best offer
no trades please

JoyStick Review:

No this isn't a pinball machine and yes the seller is asking for three thousand dollars. At this price this is no longer just an arcade game, It's a piece of history and art. The reason I say this is because the cabinet design is very unique and extremely detailed with elements that you would find in a Tie Fighter (Which make no sense ,the game play is the cockpit of a X-Wing) and Star War is no longer a movie for people it can be a lifestyle, belief system or inspiration of technology, so individuals that love Star Wars would most likely pay that high price to solidify there reasoning. Actually this machine is on the low price scale, check out http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-Empire-Strike-Back-Atari-1983-Original-Arcade-Machine-Episode-7-soon-/191573012327?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c9aa42f67.

The vector monitor gives the game play really first person feel and with the sound effects and voice chip you too can feel to the force Luke..

There is a ROM upgrade for SW so you also play Empire Strikes Back on the same machine for $185, you can find the pcb ROM upgrade on the Vector Labs website.

I personally love the original Star Wars series and have fond memories of playing this game when it came out. In fact I was beside myself that I can blow up the death star just like old Luke. What makes this game play so great is also it's downfall by being extremely repetitive. Although having the ability to play both SW and ESB on the same machine is really cool and makes the game engaging.

1980 Buck Rogers Pinball Machine

Requested Price: $700

Seller Comments:

Buck Rogers by Gottlieb. Takes Quarters and SBA Dollars. CABINET IS NEAR MINT playfield and glass are very good. Did I say 100% working, needs nothing but a good home.

JoyStick Review:

It's 1979 and another great space themed movie is out "BUCK ROGERS", which is competing with Star Trek (which is also a equally great movie). I liked Twiki, the lovable little half C3PO/R2D2 with a strange digital tourette stutter.

Anyways back to the review, This immaculate 4 player solid-state 35yr old pinball is timeless and aged better than me. The game play is fairly typical for the early 1980 area games with the addition of spelling out b u c k on the upper playfield. There is currently a Buck Rogers for sale on eBay for $1,595 from a reseller which I suspect has been fully shopped and touched up.  If you pick this machine up for $700's that would be a savings of $895 and you could either spend that by having Firebird Pinball (a great local phoenix pinball repair company) do a restore or do it yourself. Personally I love this era of machines, they were simple and fun.

Repairs:

After reviewing all the pic's I really don't see anything majorly wrong with the machine other than some minor paint touchups. The playfield looks great and surprisingly the plastic's are not warped or faded. Overall this pinball is a great addition to any arcade and deserves some love.

Great condition, clean Centipede arcade cabinet for sale. CRT monitor with no burn. $600 OBO

JoyStick Review:

Centipede! the arcade game created for woman by a woman. That's right centipede was co-written by Dona Bailey, she was the first woman programmer to develop a arcade game back in the early 80's. After the Namco's success with woman players on Pac-Man, Atari wanted to get into the woman centric games, so Donna along with Ed Logg  developed centipede and they're were a success in do so.

Personally I recall this game was always swarmed with girls, I don't remember any woman centric propaganda for this game, it guess it just screamed I'm a game that woman would like to play? Here's a game flyer that seemed to more for guys or maybe not, since ladies read vogue, etc..

If you were around in the 80's then you played this game. It was the first track ball game I ever played and just made sense instead of using a joystick or button movement. I loved it's fast pace game play and the sounds were awesome , it certain would raise your blood pressure and get your adrenaline moving.

Ok now for the actual review, The sellers cabinet is in exceptional condition and I don't see any repairs needed. Now that you have saved money on the repairs, there is a Centipede/Millipede Multigame Braze kit with the Millipede to Centipede PCB adapter for $115, but unfortunately this will require the Millipede pcb. I was able to find a Millipede pcb on ebay for $225, you can also check on klov.com. So you if you want both games and don't want to increase your arcade footprint the Braze kit is worth getting. So you can play both games in the same cabinet.

I have a 1 slot NEO GEO arcade game. I have three games that will be included. Puzzle Bobble, Metal slug 6, and Samurai showdown. All games work except the Metal slug sound does not work. The monitor is nice and the best part about the NEO GEO games is that you can switch the games like a nintendo. Coin mechs work and all lights light up. 350 firm

JoyStick Review:

This is the second Neo Geo arcade I have reviewed, what can I say I love the neo geo games. This cabinet comes with 3 games (Puzzle Bobble, Metal slug 6, and Samurai showdown), all three games are iconic on the neo geo platform. If you know about the neo geo then you most likely know these 3 games. The cabinet is missing some cabinet art that the original operator didn't include for some reason (here's a list of cabinet art http://www.thesupergun.com/tools/neo-geo-side-art-decals/) .  There is a 161-1 game multi-cart cartage available for $99 on jammaboards.com if you don't want to keep changing cartages. In addition there is a great beginners guide to the neo geo arcade on http://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Beginners_Guide_To_SNK_Neo_Geo_MVS

Repairs:

The clearest pic doesn't show any visible damage, unfortunately the seller didn't include cabinet side pic's so i'm not sure if the side art is there nor provided any damage description. I found a vendor "Jasen's Arcade" that carries the side art although their site is down until September 2015, also check with members on Klov.com someone may know about another vendor or may have spare for sale. I noticed it's also missing the "Now Playing" marque insert which you can either buy online or just simply print out the game insert on glossy paper and create your own.
